I think so too. It's time for the front office to show his importance to this team. Some may say he'll be whining or trying to flex his muscles and that the team is bigger than him. His injury exposed a lot and it's time for the new leadership to set a new direction.
 
I don't have a clue as to what's going to happen next. I do believe, however, that how long Rodgers stays in Green Bay is going to be directly related to whether or not McCarthy stays after 2018. I think it's highly unlikely he'd sign a long term extension if he felt that McCarthy was going to be canned, and that they'd dump him in the middle of a contract, by insuring that the contract was back loaded.

There's another issue on the table. If Rodgers name is going to be brought up, along with Brady, as one of the two best of all time, he needs that second ring, and 2018 is going to tell him whether or not that's going to happen in Green Bay.

My personal opinion is that the Packers won't be signing any long term deal with him, by his choice, until at least midway through the 2018 season. He's going to keep his options open, because he's holding all the cards.
 
A lot of factors at play. I think GB would like a 3 yr deal rather the 5-6 Rodgers agent is looking for. GB could go 5 years and back load it but I don't think Rodgers falls for it.

It's been discussed many times on this forum that Aaron would love to go west and be near his LA home.A trade to the Chargers wouldn't be out of the question but again don't think it happens.

So I can see a 4 yr deal with a big signing bonus. That makes Aaron 38 and GB looking for a new QB at the end.
 
It would be cheaper to give Rodgers a 3-4 year deal at 30 a year then it would be to franchise tag him 3 times. 3 years at 30 million is 90 total but using the franchise tag 3 times you are going to be over 100 million in 3 years.

How do they show him his importance? By making him the highest paid player? They've done that once and I'm sure that is the plan again this time. Everyone knows he's important. I'm sure there are plenty of teams that would be willing to give him more than the Packers but if they have that kind of money what does the rest of the roster look like.

As excited as we all are to see how these coaching and front office changes work out, I'm sure the players are just as excited. At least some of them anyway. If I was Clay Matthews, Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb, I may not be too excited. Should AR make the Packers squirm? Sure why not but in the end I don't see many great options if he truly wants to win another Super Bowl.

I guess if money is his metric but you know what I'm talking about. It's not necessarily about the money. I know your stance in the roster. I'm not in that same camp as those who believe TT has built a great roster. I just don't and thats my opinion. They are wasting his prime years by not surrounding him with a decent cast. Maybe it's all about the injuries. Maybe the injuries have held this roster back from achieving greatness. All I know is that If I we're him, I would wait as long as I could to see how this team will be built, rebuilt, modified, whatever word you want to use.

I'm happy, and find it promising, that they've finally moved on from Capers. I'm happy the front office was shaken up. That's a start and I think it's headed in the right direction. Now, let's see if they can hit on some draft picks, explore the possibility of adding some decent FA's and I'll revisit my opinion then.

I can agree with that. I do feel like the D has some very good pieces. One or two FA vets that can fill a shut down corner and an edge rushing position and this can be a top 10 defense next year. I think with a top 10 defense this is a Super Bowl contending team with Rodgers at the helm. Not much more you can ask for.

I Agree with your analysis and I'm sure hoping it plays out that way. It sure makes for an interesting offseason.
