i think coaches can have blind spots when it comes to receivers. a player can have a unique skill-set that appeals to most teams, but for whatever reason that player never really gets a shot to contribute. look at james jones for example. here is a guy who was a proven receiver and yet two teams that really need receivers cut him loose. they just could not find a way to use him? so he comes back to green bay and plays really good football. and it's not all aaron rodgers (though i will admit that he is part of the equation). but james jones was the leading receiver in oakland last season, and they still cut him loose.
we may never know how good jeff janis can be if we never give him an opportunity. when he has been allowed to play in games that did not count, he sure didn't perform like "just a guy".
