At the end of the day Arod has no reason to redo his contract. Why would he?I don't think Rodgers will agree to any deal for Green Bay if he can't confirm the Pack is "all in" - "all in" is drafting and getting free agents for 2021 - not 2-3 years down the road and not protecting the cap for 2022.
If it did come down to a restructure of Rodgers, what they would probably do is take his $14.7M base salary this year and convert it to signing bonus.
Reduces his cap number in 2021 by $9.8M (from ~$37M to ~$27M), but pushes $4.9M into both 2022 and 2023.
If they give him more money overall by doing so, that's his incentive. But then what's the incentive for GB to do that? You can only kick the can so far down the road before you have to pay the piper. At the end of the day Arod has no reason to redo his contract. Why would he?
True, every year it's talk about this big signing and it never happens. GB is making $ and the team was in the NFC title game they'll add a piece here and there but honestly I can't see anything major going on. If they sign Watt Gute and Murphy should both be fired by the way.A. They never do it. B. Until they DRAFT more talent and add better depth it's moot.
A Lombardi. At the end of the day Arod has no reason to redo his contract. Why would he?
Arod has no reason to believe redoing his contract will lead to any difference in the FO finding more talent for a serious SB run.A Lombardi.
Not sure he really caresA Lombardi.
