But this says nothing you could trade him 1 minute after the new league year starts with what this says.
And don't think that's just semantics. Like free agency, tampering does not really exist. There are ways to work the system

Well, here ya go.....if Schefty is reporting it, you know it's gotta be true...

Already commented on that.....pure trash.
One thing of note, might be insignificant but the narrative last year is "we are not trading Aaron Rodgers". This year it's "we want Aaron Rodgers back". Put that along with his comments the other night might be that hes communicated to the organization that he leanimg retirement and this is a nice PR play to say "we tried"

I think that's a great point. Words matter in these narratives. It often goes overlooked or tossed to the side but in successful PR campaigns, negotiations etc., measuring your words, crafting your words, paints a picture so to speak. It's always good to hear someone, but when you listen, evaluate the words and context, you can glean an awful lot of subtle information. Great catch Pack.

Having been in the advertising / PR biz I have learned that words are often calculated and done with purpose. It's usually not some casual statement

Our guess is that the Packers are putting out the word regarding their willingness to break the bank in order to avoid getting their chops busted if/when Rodgers leaves. Obviously, the Packers won’t want to be blamed if Rodgers chooses to leave. To avoid that, they need to create the impression that they’re doing everything that can to keep him.

The question is whether any of it matters at this point. There’s a very good chance it doesn’t.

Hey give Brandt credit for that
