Rodgers, The Packers and Reality

Exactly. Look, it’s not all on Rodgers. Of course Kevin King blew a bunch of plays that killed them. Will Redmond dropped an INT. Savage blew a chance for an INT. But the point is that Rodgers blew plays too. So I can’t sit there and say “the Packers wasted his career”. Rodgers wasted his own career to the same degree that anyone on defense did over the years. It’s a team sport! That stuff happens, it also seems to happen to Rodgers every time he’s close to the dance.
you're old enough to have heard "defense wins championships". the packers have not had a good defense in almost a decade.

And 4 x when Rodgers had a top 15 defense he has lost in the playoffs

There have been times in games when the defense let Rodgers down, and there have been times in games when Rodgers let the defense down. As Pack said, as recently as the 2020 NFCC the D had two straight turnovers and the O went 3 and out. Rodgers let them down! They failed to score, they failed to run down time, they failed to give the D a rest.

I can’t in good faith look at these games and say GB did anything to let Rodgers down. He wears the golden crown, he gets non-stop accolades from the league and media, he’s been paid handsomely for his efforts. Whatever reputation he has, he’s earned. Part of that reputation is that he doesn’t do everything he can in the biggest games.

Correct.... 1 maybe, two NFC title games is bad luck but you had 3 whacks at it and went 0-3. He made some key errors in all 3. Now it's not all on him but he'll never ever live those down AND he's had other big game meh moments.

The reality is that Rodgers time is coming to an end. You can argue his pro's and Con's all day but he should have had at least 1 more SB by now and it didn't materialize. It's really a damn shame that GB had so many great QB and so little to show for it.

This last one was devastating to his legacy. In 2016 and 2019 there was a legit sense that GB was lucky to be there, they were on the road against very superior teams and essentially ran into a buzz saw. This year was so different - legit 13-3, legit best team in the conference, at home. By hook or by crook he had to get it done and he just didn’t.

And to be fair to Aaron they have really done nothing to date to up the ante. He's getting married and ready to settle down and that either......
1. Motivates you to finish with a bang and walk away
OR
2. Go through the motions and finish out your contract so you can go home to your wife etc.

Simply the Packers have wasted their 'Rodgers' resource. They have and everyone here knows the Pack did not maximize his value by getting players and coaches to succeed - For The Pack.

The Pack keeps building for the future.

It's like letting a cake mold up instead of enjoying it when it was good.

There's going to be a lot of sad Packers' fans when Rodgers leaves and the years after. Not so much because he left, but because we'll be in wasteland. We'll have to suck for years to get the capital and draft to rebuild. As a guy who lived through the drought from Bart to Magic Man finally beating the Bears, I probably won't be around for this one.

To me it's just a shame that the Pack is not in a win now mode.
