I said the Packers were going to go in a direction nobody expected in this draft. At this point, that's already guaranteed. This kid is a solid power runner, and could turn into a real asset, but they've totally ignored areas that are important. I guess they think they've got the guys to do the job.

We're gonna find out, maybe. If there is a season.

Oh my... I wanted Dillon, but 4th or 5th round.

Jones, Baun, Duvernay, Gallimore would have been better selections here.

Dillon is a horse. He's an intelligent, disciplined runner but they could have gotten him later I feel.

*edit* More of a Williams replacement than Jones, I'd guess; though I'd bet Williams and Dillon platoon some. I don't know how good of a blocker he is though...

AJ Dillion will wear #28.

Liked him in the 3rd/4th. In the 2nd? Yuck.
Had him in the 3rd, as a FB hgh)

I like him tho. He's gonna grind it out in Dec and Jan. Lotta close games last year, the type where we just need to move the chains, get some short yardage to drain the clock. This guy is gonna beat people up in the 4th quarter.

This guy is thunder. Aaron Jones is lightning. Dude is both RB and FB. Ran a 4.5.

Pairing him with Deguara signals a serious effort at making power outside zone running game work.

this team just moved much closer to a 50/50 run-pass ratio

This pick tells me that the whole "outside zone" scheme we kept being told was the goal is done. Neither Dillon or Williams can run that consistently. Tells me that they may be modifying their offense a bit.

I like Dillon and agree he's a solid "one cut and hit the hole hard" kinda guy. I didn't really consider him because he wasn't a scheme fit, but in future drafts I'll ignore that like Gute did with this guy. He should be a solid part of the rotation. I saw him as a Rds 3-5 guy.

BC ran an outside zone scheme last year ?

BC ran an outside zone scheme last year ?

Did not realize that. Never watched any video of him before today.

To me he still doesn't fit the usual physical traits I'd look for in an outside zone back and most of the sources I use for the draft also characterized him as more of a gap/power scheme fit. I've since watched some highlights on him and while he does seem to get some things done on outside zone runs, the majority of his productive runs were inside.

Last season we saw less and less outside zone runs as the year went along. They were better blocking/running inside stuff. I was happy that ML was flexible enough to realize what they were good at and not force the issue. A guy like Dillon suggests that more inside zone runs might be the future, and outside zone is more of a minor part of the run game. That's the offensive change I'm talking about. I won't look for the classical physical types in the future because it seems like that's not what they're wedded to.

But hey, he's a horse. Fast for his size and a no nonsense runner. I like those kind of guys. I hope he stays healthy and is the real deal.
