Post Game Thread: Green Bay defeats New Orleans 37-30

Z Smith is starting to annoy me. He continues to not set the edge on run plays. I realize Petine may be giving him freedom but it is killing us with runs bouncing to the outside. P Smith has not been great at that either. This needs to change.

I thought the key to the game was the 8 Saints penalties. It can be a back breaker.

the key to the penalties is that the packers must have finally figured out how much to pay the refs. half of those penalties were questionable at best.

There was one questionable call that I saw. The horse collar tackle. The PI calls were legit. The rest were offsides and false starts and an unsportsmanlike conduct for running out of bounds on a punt.

The Saints have been plagued by penalties every game this year. I suppose some of it is by reputation. If I recall, they have been high on the list quite a few years now, so there must be some perspective by people that they are picked on. I can't say, but I do know those 8 penalties hurt them badly.

I heard this on the radio last year it's all Pettine scheme. The Packers set their pass rushers outside the tackles. This gives them a better chance to get to the QB quicker but allows huge holes for a RB to go through. The former OL coach who was talking on this said for this to work you need a good DL and ILB's to be able to cover those gaps something GB clearly lacks so it is head scratching that Pettine would run this scheme.

I remember ML attending last year's NFCC, and then retaining Mike Pettine. None of this should be a surprise or a head scratcher. My opinion is that ML has a nice thing going here but you'd be a damn fool to hitch your career to a dead weight like Mike Pettine.

Can a techie help? Here, and on other sites, I get the above as a rectangle with narrow stripes though it and a 'circle with a slash through it'. I see it's got something to do with twitter, and thought it might be that twitter knows how much I dislike it, :) but I do seem some tweets on some sites. Not that big a deal, but it does take up a lot of room.

If the defense doesn't make it in the top dozen, I think there's a chance Pettine will be replaced. They could also end up going 4-3 if it happens. Would like to hear some of our defensive coaching specialists opinions on this.
