That’s a definite possibility. That would be fun to watch the pundits meltdown if they passed on Williams.

Maye in my opinion is an even bigger ? his big numbers came from the Air Raid when Phil Longo was there. Even then he had moments with reading a defense.

Daniels is reckless with the FB but overcame it in college with his legs....that won't work as much in the NFL , his arm strength, while solid, is visibly non-elite, limiting top-end velocity, Top-end DB are going to eat him up.

He along with the other two top prospects are going to have a rough time in transition IMHO. Not one of them is an out-the-gate big dog QB.
 
To be honest not sure any of the top 4 QBs projected to go will be good. All will be likely thrown to the wolves right away. Guys like Nix, Penix, even a Spencer Rattler might be better because good chane they get drafted and get at least a season to sit and learn the system before being asked to start.
 
Should Chicago have just kept Fields AND drafted their QB of choice at No 1? It’s awkward on the surface but it gives their guy a chance to sit and learn, it gives Fields a chance to prove himself capable, it gives the Bears a chance to get a higher pick for Fields in a trade, and if he didn’t work out again they lose him for nothing instead of a 6th round pick (next to nothing).

It would have taken some organizational stones to do it but I do wonder.

What you said makes sense. He'd only count about $3.2 mill against their cap, and it would give their new QB picked a chance to learn the game. But, it's the Bears. Not much that they ever do makes sense, over the last 40 years.

Thing is you can create locker room issues doing that. I think you had to move on from fields just to make sure it would not happen.

Due to payroll errors in 2022 season NFL is taking away the 49ers comp pick in the 5th round (176) and taking their pick in the 4th round 131 and moving it to the end of the 4th round 135.
