Meet New Wisconsin FB Coach Luke Fickell

For the record he also turned down 2 or 3 other P5 DC jobs with higher profile names for the same reasons
It's not the same situation. At the time of those offers, Leonhard must have considered himself the heir apparent to the Badgers HC job. That obviously didn't happen, when they actually decided to make a change.

That's why I think there's a relatively strong chance he leaves. He may well feel like they let him down. But, to leave amicably, and be in their sites as the next guy up for the job, might work well for him.

But, it's all conjecture. It's hard to determine exactly what his and his family's thoughts are.

Agree on the family thing and he’s been well compensated the past few years in Madison. As to his other opportunities, 2 of the 3 were after the 2020 season down south so PC was not on any hot seat. One was after last season, in the Midwest. And then throw in the GB job which to Marks point was a family decision.

Well if Tressel and Hitschler are going to UW then that to me says Leonhard is gone as those two were his DC in Cincy
Per a post yesterday in this thread by 44 Blitz the DC job was not what is being discussed, it was other duties as well as Associate HC title. They are meeting again today

I understand that Jimmy Leonhard and his family love the Badgers, Wisconsin, and Madison and really wanted this job.

It just isn't a fairytale ending this time.

I believe it's best for all if Jimmy Leonhard is not coaching at WI next year.

As Mark mentioned is got it’s positives and negatives. All that in care about is he is happy in his decision either way
