One more example of the issues without uniformity. Some states are OK with the HS kids doing this, some like Texas have language written the opposite.
 
This whole thing is going to end up being a cluster before it's over. Nobody will convince me that college boosters with too much money aren't going to "buy" players for their alma mater, by creating NIL packages for kids before they get close to graduating from HS.

It was almost a given that it would start right here in Texas. Kids skipping their last year of HS eligibility to move on to college with a big pay check for doing it. This is going to destroy the whole recruiting programs of many schools. The recruiters will be greeted at the door with; "So... how much money do you have in that briefcase?"

Not going to beat a dead horse here but Texas law is a perfect example of why the NCAA failed in this area. HS kids are not going to risk losing eligibility like the Ewers situation. They are going to become early enrollment kids and cash in. As to boosters, there is enough opportunities legally for these kids to cash in now. Will boosters steer kids? Sure but that’s not new and NIL will neither stop or escalate that. The risk with the way some state laws are written the risk is to great The new deal that Mertz just signed is an example. Kids who utilize logos, agents and begin relationships with brand will win here. And yes, without NCAA legislation compliance at the university will be more strict and dilligent. Too much to lose

If Saban can use it as a recruiting tool, by telling kids that there are people out there willing to pay big bucks for your name on products if you go to Alabama, he's gonna jump on it like a lion on a crippled zebra.
