I don't believe these restructures tell us anything other than the CAP was/is a mess and space needed to be opened up no matter which way things go with AR. If he's back, he counts a bunch against the CAP. If he's traded, he counts a bunch against the CAP. If he retires, he still has a pretty major CAP hit. Bottom line, it tells us almost nothing other than that they were way over the CAP and had to do something. What it does tell us is the Rodgers contract was a mistake and forced them to do a bunch of CAP tricks.
They need to kick the can down the road for a year or two until the AR contract is gone. At the same time it's highly likely Bahk, Jones, Savage, PSmith and others will come off the books. Combine that with a rising CAP and they should be OK from a CAP point of view in a year or two.
