He is not fit to make the calls he does. Hiring a GM who will pretty much run the team how he wants proves it instead of hiring a GM who runs the team for the best of the team.

A GM does not run a pro sports franchise. There needs to be oversight. The entire power structure reports to an AD who has no financial stake in the bottom line. If you want leadership on top hire a President of Football Ops who understands who is responsible for what. Not an AD who’s background is in administration. That guy reports to ownership. I’m

It’s the tragic flaw in the GB structure. The BOD is not one dude who holds the hammer. Then the Pres (Murphy) has no real overlord. It’s a recipe for disaster.

Though it does seem some owners are hands off and let their GM's run the team. Harlen was that way with Ron Wolf he let Ron do what he wanted to do.

Most teams have FO, team President over football ops. McKay in Atlanta, Chuck Arnold in Seattle. Now how much rope the GM gets who knows but there are checks and balances before the owner gets ape shit crazy.

Though a good owner knows to let his football guys run the team and only put his fingers in when things are going south

We don’t have an owner. We have a committee (BOD) who is reactive and not proactive. We have an Athletic Director who signs off on everything. It’s minimal oversight until it’s too late.

Yeah that's the bad thing we have a BOD of business people who refuse to ever do anything on the football side they figure we have a team presient for that and let him run that side how he sees fit.

We have a BOD who lets AD run the entire show. Football, ops , business….name it. It’s GB. It’s part of the fishbowl.

Could have been worse could have been like the Pac-12 who just hired a MGM Exc to be their new commish.

Will see how he does. Pac-12 seems barley a power 5 anymore see if he can do anything with it.
