Rodgers Wants Out

Yeah exactly. If they were willing to de facto guarantee him another 3 seasons as starter through a new contract and structure, he’d sign on the dotted line and this would be over.
3 years would be super stupid by GB, hold your ground and see where it goes. He's under contract...balls firmly in his court right now.

Add this today.... I had Friday off for some medical work which gave me two days of reading. The video about Rodgers overplaying his hand in the court of public opinion is spot on. Murphy might say the fan base is split but from everything I read and I went everywhere this split isn't close to the Fave/Rodgers split and AR probably lost more backing than you might think in the court of public opinion.... If Aaron plays and I believe he will.... he better have another MVP season or things are going to get ugly this year in terms of fans and media chewing his butt. tc(

Yep GB controls Rodgers for up to 5 years with FT's in place giving a guy who will be 38 years old this year a new deal makes zero sense.

He's not going to be traded this year, and he's not going to hold out very long when it comes to camp. There's too much money on the table. Then there's the issue that it wouldn't relieve his contract. He'd be pushing his own leaving back a year.

He's been smart to keep his mouth shut. Conjecture is one thing, but burning bridges is another. He isn't that dumb.... I think!

I think there is a good chance he sits till week 1 or 2. Traded probably not

I agree. Even my most ardent Arod Packer Homer buddies are calling him out for this.

I can't blame him for wanting to go out on his own terms but he isn't gaining any fans. Then again I don't think Arod gives a darn about what the fans think.

To hazard a guess, the fanbase supporting Rodgers is something like this: “Hey Murphy the Super Bowl window is open and we need Rodgers to win, do what you need to to keep him here.” Which is quite different from, “Hey Murphy, Rodgers has done so much for the franchise, he deserves whatever he wants.”

The latter is what a lot of people felt about Favre.

it's funny because i agree, but everyone in this thread has been talking about how thin-skinned he is. both cannot be true.
Personally I don’t think a vast majority of pro athletes care what fans think. But that’s probably a whole different discussion

Much of the fan base was fed up with Favre flip flops on retirement, that he did not want to be on the field in the cold at the NFCCG and then his exodus to Minnesota which made him going to the dark side. He did not end his time in GB well either. I remember the old PC board was not fond of #4 for the most part
