Prediction of Roster Cut Down

I think Janis and White round out the receiving core. White has some moves and Janis is a big, fast target who could replace some of what we lost in Nelson, if ready (it's going to have to be a platoon effort to near make up for the loss). Abbrederis didn't gain much separation with the bum knee. Probably for the best with the concussions too. He should retire. Pinkard should be on the practice squad if he clears.

Backman, I think Ted won't cut with how averse he's been to doing that to his rookie draftees in recent years. He's shown enough to avoid the axe, and ideally we'd have more than 2 TE's.

Ripkowski is the heir apparent to Kuhn - so he's in.

I think Neal makes it over Crockett. Neal showed more in the running game, and that's what we need more out of our 3rd RB. Our top 2 aren't exactly slouches in the passing game, where Crockett more made his mark this preseason. But he's another guy I think you try to clear and get onto your practice squad.

Thomas I thought showed real potential between being somewhat of a physical specimen, in addition to being fairly instinctual. We know they liked him last year pre-injury. So I think he stays. Bradford goes. Thomas arguably showed more in one game than Bradford in his whole time here.

Gunter's question was speed, but his range sure seems fine to me, and he can actually match up with big receivers. He stays. Goodson is cooked, and if it's at the expense of a special teamer in Banjo, you figure that part of the game out with the young talent available.

Elliott is just a playmaker, and shows skills at both rushing the QB and dropping into coverage. Easy inclusion to me, and he deserves the shot to move up the OLB pecking order and take over for Peppers and Perry in the near future.

Don't really pay attention to the O-Line much tbh.

Specialists (3)
Kicker: Crosby

Ripkowski, Crockett and Backman released and brought back to the practice squad.

If your prediction is right let's hope Rip, Crockett and Backman clear waivers...

I don't see Crockett clearing waivers. Rip may not either with what he has showed on ST's. This is why I say release Starks and Keep Neal and Crockett. They both can catch out of the backfield and have better quickness than Starks, IMO. By midseason, I think one or both of them will be able to do some things on 3rd down.

ESPN PREDICTION IS UP >>> http://espn.go.com/blog/green-bay-p...as-sixth-receiver-on-packers-projected-roster

QUARTERBACK (3)
Aaron Rodgers
Scott Tolzien
Brett Hundley
Hundley was perhaps the Packers' most impressive rookie this preseason. He completed 45 of 65 passes for 630 yards with seven touchdowns and one interception for a passer rating of 129.7. Tolzien, however, remains the No. 2.
RUNNING BACK (5)
Eddie Lacy
James Starks
Rajion Neal
John Kuhn
Aaron Ripkowski
That's right, two fullbacks. Kuhn's leadership and Ripkowski's special-teams play have value. There was some thought to keeping only two halfbacks. In that case, Neal would get cut.
RECEIVER (6)
Randall Cobb
Davante Adams
Ty Montgomery
Jeff Janis
Myles White
Jared Abbrederis
The Packers did not show any interest in re-signing Jarrett Boykin after he was cut by the Panthers this week. It's tough to keep Abbrederis after he has played in only one preseason game, but the Packers seem to like his potential. If they keep only five, it comes down to White vs. Abbrederis.
TIGHT END (3)
Richard Rodgers
Andrew Quarless
Kennard Backman
This might be the hardest call on the roster, but the tie goes to the draft pick, Backman (a sixth-rounder). His upside is greater than either Justin Perillo or Mitchell Henry, even if both are more game ready. Henry has gotten more chances with the No. 1 special-teams unit. Maybe they’ll keep Henry as the fourth and go with one less running back or receiver.
OFFENSIVE LINE (8)
David Bakhtiari
Bryan Bulaga
Corey Linsley
T.J. Lang
Josh Sitton
Don Barclay
JC Tretter
Lane Taylor
If they go with nine, then Josh Walker sticks because he can play multiple spots. The only reason they'd take him over Taylor is because Taylor only plays guard. Barclay struggled early on in his return from ACL surgery but seems to have steadied himself.
DEFENSIVE LINE (5)
Mike Daniels
B.J. Raji
Mike Pennel
Josh Boyd
Bruce Gaston
Datone Jones and Letroy Guion don't count until their suspensions (one game for Jones and three for Guion) expire. Even without them, it's tough to see Khyri Thornton making it. The third-round pick in 2014 has done nothing all summer for the second straight year. A hamstring injury in the preseason finale last year bought him a year on injured reserve. The other tough cut is sixth-round pick Christian Ringo, but he's been unproductive enough that no one would claim him, allowing him to return on the practice squad.
LINEBACKER (10)
Clay Matthews
Sam Barrington
Julius Peppers
Mike Neal
Nick Perry
Nate Palmer
Andy Mulumba
Jayrone Elliott
Jake Ryan
Carl Bradford
They could get by with just nine, which would mean no Bradford. It probably comes down to him or cornerback Demetri Goodson for the final spot.
CORNERBACK (5)
Sam Shields
Casey Hayward
Damarious Randall
Quinten Rollins
LaDarius Gunter
Goodson, who might have some special-teams value, doesn't make it in part because Gunter has outplayed him on defense and in part because he has been injured. He didn't play in the preseason finale because of a knee injury. Goodson also missed time earlier in camp with a calf injury.
SAFETY (5)
Morgan Burnett
Ha Ha Clinton-Dix
Micah Hyde
Sean Richardson
Chris Banjo
Richardson and Banjo look like core special-teams contributors.
SPECIALIST (3)
Mason Crosby, K
Tim Masthay, P
Brett Goode, LS
The Packers stuck with Crosby through his slump of 2013, and they're likely to do the same with Masthay, who finished with a solid preseason game.

I hope we don't have to wait until the 11th hour before we learn who did and didn't make the cut.

I hope we don't have to wait until the 11th hour before we learn who did and didn't make the cut.

Hopefully they tell the players sooner than when we find out. Waiting til the last second doesn't do them any favors.

I think most players who are getting cut know and are being offered PS spots and GM's and HC's are putting lists together of guys they would want to claim and guys who they want from other teams to add to PS.

ESPN's list is pretty solid...

Hate to lose Harris at RB though... And I hate the thought of keeping 2 FBs
