Next Badgers Football Coach

He was sucking up to NE earlier this year.
Dude no he wasn't that was all debunked...visiting with an AD and was asked who was on his short list is all that happened between him and Trev. NE according to their boards and insiders is between Matt Campbell and Lance L. Urb isn't getting a job this quick after that JAX debacle

He said NE had greatest fans several times.

NE may not have been going after him, but he was sucking up.

I wonder if Mertz is auditioning to impress schools where he might be wanted, if he goes through the portal for next year. I wonder the same about others on the roster as well.

Then I listen to Dan Orlovsky talk about the culture in Madison like it was the Holy Grail of how it's done, and nearly vomited. It's a great sound bite for homers, but to those who want change, kind of scary, because it's business as usual, taking players who are essentially second level, because they're low hanging fruit, and homies. Scary, because way too many people will buy into what he said.

The statement was even punctuated with a sentence from Leonhard's mouth about how you have to embrace change, and dare to be different, yet maintain your culture pretty much as it is. I'm not certain that means to be honest.

I too think about how he's never really coached a team, other than as a coordinator. He's a solid nuts and bolts man with a defense, but I noticed he's not out there that much, when it came to recruiting. I have no idea how involved he was, or will be, in the future.

I don't think the culture will change. I think it's going to remain the same, and they'll make a safe hire, to insure it does, even if it ends up a short marriage.

To me if you're going to give the job to Jim L then firing Paul C makes zero sense. You're just basically changing the window dressing on the program and nothing else. I grew up in Tomahawk and have family in Ladysmith and know some of his family and such but the thing about Jim is he's a low-key type of person off the field like his mom. Not the normal HC type person, I know folks were kind of surprise when he started coaching as he told people that he would never do that.

I can see both sides to this and with USC and UCLA coming in I think the AD should be fair not just hand it to Jimmy but open it all the way up, then if he is best hire him. If they just do it then they will always second guess him no matter what.

Remember lot of people who will be invovled in this hire believe that King Barry is God and that this team needs to have a connection to him as long as possible.

If Mertz leaves this team better pray it can find a decent QB thru the portal otherwise with what they got to replace Mertz this will be a 2-3 win team. Maybe even less if Allen walks out the door too.

It will have to be through the portal. It could happen, depending on who gets the job. If Lance Leipold gets the job, I'd guess a decent WR and QB will see it as an opportunity to come in, and use next year, as a stepping stone towards the NFL draft.

If it's Leonhard getting the nod, it's going to be anybody's guess who it will be, but I'm going to guess he's already been assessing the possibilities.

I'd say that anyone else, who took the job, would have someone already in mind, who could work through their system in short order, and be productive. Probably not even close to productive as Wilson was, but at least decent enough to keep them from being a doormat.

Despite all factors, Either Leipold or Leonhard will give them 7 wins. The competition in the West/Big 10 is fairly weak. Non-conference, Buffalo, Georgia Southern, and Washington State.

Buffalo is Lance old club he still has stacked, Georgia Southern beat Nebraska this year and is full of talent in the passing game.... State beat us this yr. No gimmies for Bucky
