2020 NFL opt out proposal

Wait until the last minute.

Wait until the last minute.
Exactly and the part that just infuriates me is they had a longer window than any other sport, the ability to learn from other sports and what do they do? Not even follow the reco of the joint panel. They feel more engaged squeezing every inch they can from the NFLPA instead.

Remember it takes two to tango. The players despite their own bitching about the NFL have not followed their own guidelines set up by the NFLPA to not gather in groups to practice so them bitching about safety is kind of being hypocrites themselves.

NFL and NFLPA agree to daily COVID Testing. Players had wanted daily testing.

That was not my point. The joint committee, with a blessing from the league and NFLPA made recommendations for a safe opening to camp. They were ignored by the league. And now when there is a deadline, eureka they get daily testing. Funny how that happened. They had the longest runway to figure this out but whatever

I'm inclined to believe that the owners were sitting back in hopes of a "miracle cure," or that the virus would just kind of "melt away." Then they could have gone on, business as usual.

The problem with that scenario is that when time gets shorter, they've actually gotten nowhere, and now they're at a point where they're afraid to discuss certain issues because it will make them look weak.

It's too late for posturing. The owners need to get this done or pull the plug. There's not going to be a miracle performed in the next few days.

I’m inclined to believe that the owners think they are Teflon. They know that missing a season is the nuclear option so why not squeeze every drop of blood out of the rank and file. It’s the same playbook as the last 2 CBA negotiations. They found the weak spot this year that 60% or so players are on minimum deals so strike the fear of god in them and offer more cash. Yeah part of that is that the NFLPA does does not have a unified platform but that’s also a cap driven which is an entirely different discussion. Rant over

NFL offered the NFLPA today to play zero preseason games this summer, per source.
