For me this is a chicken/egg argument. Can you trust Mac and Fick to get the program turned around, and if you do, then you don't need another coach/AD.
You wanna fix overall recruiting - well, then you gotta win first. How does Fick suddenly turn this into a winner. Wanna fix in-state recruiting - Fick has messed that up, how does he suddenly fix it.
Improve NIL and overall spending on the program? . . . who is suddenly gonna pony up a bunch of money for this mess of a program with the same coach that messed it up, especially with how season ticket sales and donations are likely to drop off next season?
There are plenty of guys in their right mind who'll take a shot at a Power-4 job that pays decently, because these are guys who have confident personalities and believe they can make the difference. If they don't, then you don't want them as your coach anyway.
I'm also not worried about a new guy stepping into a hostile environment. First off, the program is at rock bottom, if the next guy wins 3-4 games fans will give him a honeymoon year or two, espevially if things "look" better and they're more competitive. Hostile is what Fick will see next year if he's back, coming off a 2 or 3 win season.
