B1G Media Rights Deal

Assuming ND gets $65m per year on their renewal they will probably need to wait about 10 years
Don't know why NBC is so stupid to pay the most overrated school in hisotry of sports that.

Because if makes them money. We have rehashed that before. About 4m per game watch As a reference point that’s more than watched Auburn/ Texas A&M and almost 30% than watched Florida / LSU.

Yeah just saying lot of stupid people to watch ND games

No you just called NBC stupid. People watch content they like. I can point to 100 shows on TV / cable that are beyond stupid and people watch

What’s very interesting and telling. No Amazon or Apple as streaming partners. I get Peacock is part of the deal but it’s more “bundled” with NBCU

So some math

CBS is paying B1G $350m/year avg for 15 games and a smattering of basketball. We’ll put 80% or $280m against the football.

So that’s $18.7m per game. Value of 7 ND games on NBC at $18.7m is $131m. And the with 4m per game viewership per game for ND that’s inline with what ABC does in the 3:30 window now and also 80% of the SEC games @ 3:30

Pretty good deal for NBC even if they have to go to $70m per year. It’s a very easy ask to get $10 per game in ad revenue.

And this ….So your NBC. Wouldn't you want to renew ND so that you have 7 games guaranteed? If you don't pay up so they remain independent, they go to B1G and into the selection pool. At most you're going to get them 3 or 4 times in that prime time window. Now figure out how to fill 3-4 slots with content…good luck with that

ESPN will fold Longhorn Network into SEC Network when Texas joins the conference….since ESPN owns Longhorn Network it makes sense. Also one reason Texas is not in the B1G when the conference came calling a few years ago
