What? So basically back to old system then. Cheers. And it’s not IF they get taxed. They are 1099’sAlso if these kids start getting taxed guess what more money will start going under the table again to the top kids to avoid taxes.
So what happens when a kid gets a $50k NIL deal while at Stanford or Duke when the avg per year to attend is $70k? Do they just pay $25k or the difference? Guess what happens then? Would the scholarship become taxable ? Your technically putting value with cost deferred by incomeWell I rather have a kid who can't afford to go to college go and get a scholarship then some brat getting 100K a year on a NIL deal and getting a free ride to college.
Yeah and then when does the kid say give me my under the table deal I don't want ot pay 50K in taxesWhat? So basically back to old system then. Cheers. And it’s not IF they get taxed. They are 1099’s
Well should a kid getting 100K in NIL deal get a 50k a year scholarship and the kid who needs to take out loans to go to school be out of luck?So what happens when a kid gets a $50k NIL deal while at Stanford or Duke when the avg per year to attend is $70k? That’s not how scholarships work. You can’t move an athletic scholarship and repurpose it for education or at need kids. Many scholarships are endowments that that are earmarkedWell should a kid getting 100K in NIL deal get a 50k a year scholarship and the kid who needs to take out loans to go to school be out of luck?
As said back to the old system pre NILYeah and then when does the kid say give me my under the table deal I don't want ot pay 50K in taxes
Well give it to another football kid that is playing as a walk onThat’s not how scholarships work. You can’t move an athletic scholarship and repurpose it for education or at need kids. Many scholarships are endowments that that are earmarked
And you think it’s going to a walk on? They either use it to go after a 3-4 star kid they could not fit under the limit or bank it. Pre scholarship limits that’s what Alabama, Nebraska, Oklahoma did to make sure kids would not sign somewhere else.Well give it to another football kid that is playing as a walk on
And again once you start to put “value” on a scholarship it’s ripe to become taxable income and that’s one thing nobody wantsWell give it to another football kid that is playing as a walk on
