Packers 2023-24 Season Thread

I don't think Clifford is ever going to be a starting QB in the NFL. Of course, a lot of people thought the same thing about Kurt Warner. Reality is, despite what appears to be a lack of serious skills, he could be a system QB that could eventually become one of those "career back-ups," we see floating around for a lot of years.

I would go along with grabbing a decent backup at cut downs or trading for one and being set for this year. I think one of the key mistakes from our front office was not bringing good QB talent the past 2-3 years with Love. Too darn worried about so and so feelings. One last dance bh)

The front office is a big piece of all this. If this goes South most will turn on Love but let's be honest here., he has less to work with then Rodgers did..that and not having another QB before camp falls squarely on Gute.

How so?

He's got Jones and Dillon and all those young receivers and tight ends who are supposed to be the end all. It's the same old same old, but the Pack has put at least as much around Love as it put around Rodgers in recent years.

And, you're right the Pack front office is the issue. Reading through here it:

1) Doesn't draft the type of players it's defense needs to succeed, and
2) Doesn't evaluate personnel well - especially quarterbacks where it overdrafts and/or reaches for everybody.

Hopefully, somebody defies the odds.

And, there are tons of reasons to not bring in a veteran or another quarterback - the first being, you put your eggs in Love's basket. Why do anything to challenge his ego and make him think he's disrespected - which without knowing him and just going by current kids who seem to be disrespected by moths going to flames instead of them, is probably a lot more frail than mine. A veteran quarterback that nobody wanted isn't going to take the Pack anywhere if Love gets hurt. And, it could upset Love. Save the money - go home with the gal you brought. It's Love or nothing.

One last note from the past>>> ( For those nonbelievers that this happened)

Mark Murphy: "I think offensively, you’re going to see probably a little bit more of Matt’s true offense...we gave (Rodgers) the flexibility to change plays and get in and out of things that really helped, but I would anticipate a strong running game and play action off of that."

yeah I think ML even admitted in past he catered his offense to allow #12 to use previous seasons play calling because he wanted to run what he was comfortable and that is on Murphy forcing ML to cater to #12

With a young QB and young WR's this makes 100% sense to go to ML bread and butter a power run when you have two good vet RB's you can lean on.
