Packers 2023-24 Season Thread

It's a single sprained MCL for Jenkins. Aaron Jones has had 2 or 3 sprained MCL's and come back just fine. Jenkins is only 27 so it seems reasonable to think he'll come back just fine. Now, if this "sprained" MCL lingers on and on, then I'd be keeping my eye on him to see how he looks when he comes back.
It's not a question of the injury itself as it is an accumulation of injuries, all of which steal just a little more mobility. It's like RBs, and the numbers of hits they take leading to their footwork being slower, and their ability to use their speed and agility like they did. The days of plodding elephant offensive linemen is gone I'm afraid.

If he comes back, and is highly productive, I'd be pleased. But, if he comes back and doesn't grade out high enough to be a force out there, the money he'd get doesn't make it worth keeping him. It's all about ROI.

Bak will try to limp out a final year with his buddy #8 in NY both play in 2024 and retire
They can have him for free if they take a large enough portion of his cap hit. Least as far as I'm concerned. Should have had him in week one.

Packers cut him after the season take the 20 million cap hit he signs cheap with Jets then

They don't really have a choice. They are in the same spot with Jenkins as they were with Bakh. They already paid him. He's on the team next year since his CAP hit is essentially the same if you keep him or cut him. It was the same way with Bakh this year. Now, next year they will almost certainly move on from Bakh, but Jenkins is coming back, because he's a $20mil CAP hit no matter what.

Either way, you pay him. But, if he can't play, why keep him there? You just fill a roster spot. I'm certain they'd want to put someone else on the roster who can give them a return on their investment, even if it's a 6th round rookie, who has enough skills that he could develop into a decent player in a year or two. You just eat the loss of CAP room and move along.
