Rodgers Wants Out

So as of today 6/2 teams who release or trade a player are able to spread out a cap hit over the current and next season.

People got over Favre quick because he failed to get to a SB and GB did with his replacement.
The history of Wisconsin sports fans is a short memory. They embrace heroes, like ones who win championships. Now if they player does not embrace the fans once he’s gone all bets are off.

Rodgers tried to pretend he was embracing “all things WI”.
He cozied up to Badgers football/basketball and even bought a slice of the Bucks.
But it just has seemed contrived and disingenuous, almost a strategic agenda (if you get my drift).
You don’t spend millions for partial ownership as a strategic agenda. I get he has the resources to do it but seems a bit odd. I think the guy is a sports fan. Now does he fit the culture no. But I don’t think it was disingenuous

Rodgers was always trying to punch above his weight with the celebrity stuff, he had his sites set higher than they should've been. I remember years ago he talked about wanting to host SNL, but guess what, they never wanted him. Same with Bucks ownership, it's about growing his own brand but he's just not that interesting, personable or marketable. That would all be fine if being an all-time great QB in the football fishbowl of the universe was good enough but to repeat, he always had one foot out the door. Ah well.

I won't be shocked if Rodgers sells his 1% share in the team if when he leaves as the team has went up in value so he makes money selling it.

Fine let him. I’m sure there will be a buyer waiting

Oh most likely I would suspect it's in the contract he signed that he sells the owners get 1st rights to buy it back. Maybe he goes to Denver he can buy into the Nuggets.

Yeah like Kroenke would sell any shares

But, wouldn’t doing so, more or less, confirm his buying in was a strategic move to look good to WI sports fans?
At least the optics would make it look as such.

Green Bay has been tight up against the cap all offseason. But they wouldn’t need these nickel-and-dime moves if they traded Aaron Rodgers, freeing up over $16M in cap space. Clearing cap now is another indication they’re planning for the NFL MVP to be on the team in 2021.
