I felt the same way when all this started…and still do to a degree. But the more I hear from Murphy, the more I want
him gone. The fish rots from the head down and that guy has 400 year old crappie written all over him (I was going to say walleye, but I didn’t want to offend our fellow Packer Backer, Walleye. Plus ‘Crappie’ seemed to be more fitting).
This is the first I’ve weighed in since this all started, so please bear with me. I think the worst thing that could happen was Tom Brady going to TB, having all that pull, and then winning his SEVENTH SB. Guys like Rodgers and Russ Wilson saw that and went, ‘I want some of that!’ And here we are.
I do not agree Love is the issue. I think Love was just the last straw. I believe Aaron’s issues started when they released players he loved (Jordy, Cobb, Kumerow, Matthews, etc) without getting his input. Doesn’t mean they had to follow it. But show him his multiple MVP opinion means SOMETHING. But not in Green Bay. Oh, no!! ‘We run this like Lombardi in the 60’s. Play football and shut-up’. Well, it’s not the 60’s and Vince has been gone a LONG time! I know he was tough. But he was also fair and VERY smart. I think he would have adjusted with the times.
A lot of what Aaron has said seems to almost be pleading with the Packers to make some adjustments to show player’s input matters. I think he wanted changes rather than a new team elsewhere. But no. Not how we do things here. Well, that’s exactly why they have 30 years of HOF QB play and only 2 Super Bowls, as opposed to Brady’s 7!!
To me, Lombardi came across as incredibly smart, prepared, and no-nonsense while Murphy comes across as incredibly unprepared, all nonsense and a complete disconnected dolt. THAT’S where the change needs to come, in my opinion.
But now that we’re here and GB is not going to get rid of Murphy, I would trade Rodgers while his value is sky-high. The relationship is probably damaged beyond repair, especially after Murphy’s recent idiotic comments (didn’t he wear a helmet when he played???). But I do not for one second believe the ‘brain trust’ in Green Bay would do anything intelligent with all the added capital. Just my opinion. I would love to see Murphy say something intelligent that would change my mind. But I’m not getting that vibe.
BTW, I do NOT like the way Aaron is handling this either. He is deserting his teammates, coaches, fans (the ones that made him so filthy rich in the first place!), and is coming across as a total Prima-Dona. Quit hiding behind reports and other peoples’ talk and rumors. Come out and be straight up. He’s making it easier to want to see him gone too. How did he like being put in such an awkward position when Favre pulled what he did?! Doesn’t seem to bother him to put Jordan (who comes across as a genuinely nice guy) in the same place. But you ‘love’ Jordan, right Aaron? Seems to me you only have eyes for YOU!
Sorry for the long rant. Been building for awhile. Okay everyone….fire away!! I’ll be in the corner ducking!! ;D
