Agreed. Would doom him from the get go if he was a lame duck QB of sorts this year.

The offense as a whole is really young this year. They’ll need time to come together as a unit.

Something had to be done with a Love extension and this appears to be a win-win. Kudos to both sides on getting this done.

I'm glad to see they didn't give him a huge, long term contract at this point. It's still unknown how well he's going to do.

Love gets more guaranteed money now and it allows the team to avoid the big cap hit of a $20m option next year. It allows them to wait and see a bit more, honestly if he plays really well this year they may well tear it up next off season and try to get him on a moderate extension going forward (though what moderate looks like in today's QB market is not real moderate by any standards). If he struggles then he gets another prove it year, continued employment and the team isn't forced to absorb the hit on a player that isn't the long term solution.

Wonder how much of a SB Love got. Got to figure that's why Savage got some of his salary resturctred was to free up cap space so Love cap number could increase.
