Packers 2023-24 Season Thread

I do believe the Packers will find an experienced QB to add to the roster, at a real low-ball figure. It's just an insurance policy, if anything happens to Love. I think Clifford is going to beat Etling out for the additional role, and will get a little time to learn the system, and hopefully be there in the future - after he understands the system, and if he has the talent - to replace Love for at least a game now and then.

I have no idea who it will be, but someone will be found.

I agree Clifford will beat out Etling but I don't know if he will even be on the 53 man. I can see as you said GB pick up a vet QB at vet min or near it and Clifford gets cut at end of camp and put on the PS. Etling is not even a real QB. He's been in league for years bouncing from PS to PS. I think at one point a team even tried to convert him to WR.

The problem with Clifford is that someone might just see something in him, during preseason, and decide to pull him from our practice squad. It's a risk, leaving him there, but if he has some success, he's probably going to have to end up on the 53 man list.

That is same worry every year Packer fans seem to have is that they think the 3rd string QB who looks good playing agianst 4th string will be picked up. I still think Clifford was over drafted he was likley a UDFA who needs a year on the PS he's green as grass. Look at Benkert people were so worried to lose him

Clifford isn't going to start and win at the NFL level ever, to be blunt someone in scouting messed that grade up. GB has not one reliable back up on the roster. Let them figure that out in camp and preseason the hard way....say again waiver wire signing is coming.

Ever since we lost Taysom Hill.

Gutey tends to overdraft. Sometimes they target a guy, sometimes there's run on a position. Gutey's not afraid to pull the trigger a round early.

With Hill GB would have never thought to use him how the Saints did. GB would have only focused on him as a QB.

Agree GB will see their backups are not ready and pickup someone. I would not be totally shocked if GB plays the game of they go thru week 1 with Clifford as backup so they can sign a vet after week one and their contract is non-guaranted and can replace them if they want to.

possible....I think they have 3-4 targeted backups that fit the system and nab one when waived or trade a low pick like a 6th for that person.

Current FA QB's: Carson Wentz, Teddy Bridgewater, Nick Foles, Joe Flacco, Chase Daniel

Possible QB's who could be cut: Tim Boyle, Nate Sudfeld, Josh Dobbs, Mason Rudolph, Case Keenum, John Wolford, Brian Hoyer, and Sam Darnold
