when they say "2021 and beyond" they mean one of three things:

1) the 2021 season technically extends into 2022;
2) they are talking about the relationship post-retirement;
3) they are having buyer's remorse with regard to jordan love.
It very well could mean all 3 things.

I think our front office is going to screw this up more than any will believe. They won't strike until the iron is cold. I doubt we end up with more than a 3d round pick, a bag of fritos, and a Hidden Valley Ranch Packet - no mix

The market is not changed much if any over the last 6 months, now what it looks like next off season is the unknown.

One thing that is in the back of my mind. While I believe that Murphy is the one who is ultimately calling the shots, I have this sense that the “Big 3”, Gute, ML and Murphy are not on the same page and maybe even Ball.

If you keep Rodgers in “2021 and beyond” with. beyond being the key word you have essentially thrown your GM under the bus assuming Love is not a bust. If you extend him and throw the cap in a quagmire you essentially put Ball in a no win situation for years. Who’s stuck in the middle? ML. You either have to deal with a disgruntled QB who thinks he’s running the show or have a guy you need to develop and hopefully justify what your GM did. Far from ideal in many levels and not even factoring in the distraction for the next 12 months

Even with my Green and Gold glasses and my love of Rodgers as a football player, I find it hard to believe we will get close to the haul described by the media talking heads.

I believe every day he holds out chips away at what we could negotiate in trade.

As for Rodgers the football player, I'm not sure the new Hollywood Fiance will be a benefit. He's already lost 15 pounds. I'm not chasing him, 300+ pound plus guys are with bad attitudes that are very very fast. Hopefully, she's not having too much a Hollywood weird influence on him.

For his life and happiness, she's great. Glad for him.

I think you're right on this. This whole thing doesn't seem thought out and planned.

He has more value than a 3rd. The difficulty for any trade partner is also his contract. I think you get a 1 and 2, maybe a conditional pick also

You've hit on a very good point. Well done. I would not want to be in ML's position. I have been very pleased with him, as a coach thus far, and I think you nailed it. There are so many levels to this conundrum.
